This research investigates the widening gap between architects and clients and the associated problems in the management of their relationship. Drawing theory from sociological and psychological perspectives, it demystifies the architect-client relationship by providing an account of how the profession's endeavour to maintain social distinction by creating silent boundaries around itself has led to an increased distancing between the architectural community and those clients not trained as professional architects. It raises several questions: to what extent can the boundaries between the architect and client be blurred? What is it about some relationships that are an enabler for success? Are there characteristics that underpin successful relationships? Using the narrative enquiry approach, eight in-depth interviews were conducted across five case studies of successful architect-client relationships, revealing ways in which clients effectively dealt with uncertainties on projects. The findings demonstrate that successful architect-client relationships are characterized by client learning and that over the course of the relationships architects supported clients to learn new skills, helping them overcome difficulties faced on projects. One of the most significant outcomes is that it demonstrates the potential of facilitating client learning to contribute to the development of successful architect-client relationships.

Construction clients exert direct and indirect influences on the potential of construction projects to generate innovative solutions. Understanding their innovation adoption behaviour is thus crucial for the successful diffusion of new ideas. Although it is acknowledged that clients can support as well as suppress construction innovation, little is known about the circumstances that form their innovation adoption behaviour. On the basis of a client classification scheme and three cases of innovative construction projects in the Netherlands, the factors that constitute the adoption decision environment of professional public clients were investigated. A key finding is that professional public clients will adopt a new idea if they perceive that it performs better in meeting social requirements than traditional solutions, without compromising the client's social responsibilities. This perception is formed only if public professional clients rely on project-independent knowledge in order to cope with the project-dependent uncertainty. The diversity of construction clients in terms of needs, experiences and motivations largely influences the potential of construction innovations to be implemented. Moreover, innovating firms need to address the complex decision environment of construction clients more consciously.

Despite the need for evidence-based advice regarding the behavioural health of their companion animals, owners may struggle to realise that this advice can be readily accessed from their veterinary practice. Many veterinary clients still rely, instead, on popular misconceptions perpetuated by the media and other pet owners. Furthering this problem is the reticence of some veterinary professionals to become involved in queries about patient behaviour, as they feel ill equipped to support the client and patient. This article forms part of a species-specific series of articles, intended to provide basic behavioural guidance that can be delivered by practice staff. This specific article focuses on enabling any veterinary practice to give basic support for the emotional and behavioural needs of their canine patients.

Valuation judgement bias has been a research topic for several years due to its proclaimed effect on valuation accuracy. However, little is known on the emphasis of literature on judgement bias, with regard to, for instance, research methodologies, research context and robustness of research evidence. A synthesis of available research will establish consistency in the current knowledge base on valuer judgement, identify future research opportunities and support decision-making policy by educational and regulatory stakeholders how to cope with judgement bias. This article therefore, provides a systematic review of empirical research on real estate valuer judgement over the last 30 years. Based on a number of inclusion and exclusion criteria, we have systematically analysed 32 relevant papers on valuation judgement bias. Although we find some consistency in evidence, we also find the underlying research to be biased; the methodology adopted is dominated by a quantitative approach; research context is skewed by timing and origination; and research evidence seems fragmented and needs replication. In order to obtain a deeper understanding of valuation judgement processes and thus extend the current knowledge base, we advocate more use of qualitative research methods and scholars to adopt an interpretative paradigm when studying judgement behaviour.

Objective: (1) To determine the treatment seeking behaviour of STI clients. (2) To ascertain the relationship of socio-demographic factors and sexual behaviours with the treatment seeking component in STI clients. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medical Sciences, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. After obtaining approval from the Institutional Ethical Committee, the data collected daily from master register, STI/RTI patient wise register and counsellor’s patient diary during the study period August 2013 to July 2015 was processed by Microsoft Excel program. The counsellor also recorded the source of information regarding STI Clinic. The information collected regarding bio-social characteristics, high risk sexual behaviours and source of knowledge about Suraksha clinic was analysed. Results: Our results showed that literacy, male sex, urban residence and employment were some of the parameters which significantly improved the health seeking behaviour of STI clients. These variables were associated with higher odds for seeking treatment when adjusted for other variables. Similarly group with bisexual and homosexual behaviour had significantly lower odds for seeking treatment when adjusted for other variables. Conclusion/Key Message: The optimal use of information, education and communication (IEC) techniques needs to be strengthened to further improve the utilization of STI clinic services at tertiary care teaching hospitals.

As adolescents spend many hours a day in school, it is crucial to examine the ways in which therapeutic practices in schools promote their well‐being. This longitudinal pilot study examined the contribution of school‐based psychodrama group therapy to the self‐concept dimensions and perceived loneliness of 40 Israeli adolescents (aged 13–16, 60% boys) in public middle schools. From a process–outcome perspective, we also examined the understudied trajectory of adolescents' in‐session behaviours (process variables) and its associations with changes in their self‐concepts and loneliness (outcome variables). Psychodrama participants reported increases in global, social, and behavioural self‐concepts and a decrease in loneliness compared to the control group. In‐session productive behaviours increased and resistance decreased throughout the therapy, but varied process–outcome relationships were found. The study suggests that conducting further research into the process–outcome relationships in psychodrama group therapy is warranted to pinpoint specific mechanisms of change. Suggestions for future studies are provided.

Service quality is seen as an important factor that affects client satisfaction and behavioural intention, which are considered as important contributors of business success. This research investigated the relationships between the three constructs in the context of small and medium construction projects in Thailand. Structural equation modelling was used to analyse the theoretical model and to establish relationships among the research variables. The results show that there are four dimensions of service quality: reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and tangibility, in which the first three dimensions are more important than the last in influencing service quality. Furthermore, client satisfaction is a mediator of the causal relationship between service quality and behavioural intention. Contractors should focus on maintaining and identifying factors that affect client satisfaction, particularly after projects are completed, to encourage client behavioural intentions.

Background The practice of medication sharing, the lending (giving) or borrowing (taking) of prescription medicines, has been reported increasingly in the literature. Aim This study aimed to investigate prescription medication sharing practices among adults in Auckland, New Zealand. Setting Community pharmacies in Auckland. Method A cross-sectional survey was conducted in ten community pharmacies in Auckland during March, 2012. Clients were invited to complete an anonymous questionnaire to assess their medication sharing practices. Main outcome measures Proportion of respondents reporting lending or borrowing; information provided or received. Results Of all participants (N = 642), 25.5 % reported borrowing, and 24.1 % reported lending prescribed medicines in the past year. Furthermore, 14.8 % of participants reported ever giving a child's prescribed medicine to another child in their care, and 49.8 % reported having leftover prescription medicines at home. Of those who borrowed medicines (n = 164), 56.1 % received written medication instructions from the lender, and of the lenders (n = 155), 47.1 % provided verbal instructions with the lent medicines. Conclusion The sharing of prescription medicines in Auckland appears to be similar to that reported in other developed countries, and it is now clear that information provision while sharing does not always occur. Approaches to reduce harm resulting from sharing medicines should be explored.
